It has already been reported that exactly one year ago, one of Latvia’s most popular sports commentators, Anatolijs Kreipāns, received a phone call saying he was fired from his job at LTV. He has only a couple of years left until retirement.

Anita Jansone, Director of the Marketing and Communication Department of “Latvijas Televīzijas” (LTV), explained that the decision to end cooperation with sports commentator Anatolijas Kreipānas is not related to his age, LETA reported on December 5.

She explained that LTV wants to attract new people, but it is about, for example, offering new professional opportunities to LTV Sport editorial staff, or attracting people who have not previously cooperated with LTV in commenting on competitions.

On the other hand, Kreipāns emphasized to the “Delfi” portal that it was the other party’s decision, not his. The sports commentator is said to have been called and told that they will no longer cooperate with him, informing that they will attract new people.

According to the information in the LETA Archive, Kreipāns started commenting on sports on television in the eighties of the last century, before that he commented on speedway and autocross in person, in the stadium.
