Rizky Ridho became Indonesia’s representative at the 2025 Puskas Award. His goal against Arema last season from the middle of the field put the central defender on a par with Declan Rice and Lamine Yamal in the nominations.

Later, the winners will be determined by voting and jury assessments. Only two Asian players have ever won this award, you know!

Former Indonesian National Team coach, Shin Tae-yong asked for his comments regarding Rizky Ridho’s goal which was included in the nomination Puskas Award 2025. STY was amazed to see Ridho’s goal!

“I raised him well,” said STY after seeing footage of Ridho’s goal, as reported by Goal Post Asia.

Shin Tae-yong admitted that he was often reprimanded Rizky Ridho who often shot the ball, when he was still in the national team in the age group category. Of course, that’s not a defender’s main job.

“Ridho doesn’t often do that (shoot the ball). When he was young, he often did it and I often reprimanded him,” said Shin while laughing.

As time went by, Rizky Ridho also developed. Shin Tae-yong Alluding to Ridho’s indifferent pass which led to Witan’s goal against Jordan during the U-23 Asian Cup is proof of this.

Apart from Ridho coming in Puskas Award 2025, STY is proud to see Ridho continue to be an elite player. Not only on the field, but Ridho’s personality off the field.

“He has a good personality, really good. He is a child who can really be successful as an athlete,” he emphasized.

“Ridho’s goal was beautiful, but it wasn’t easy (to win the Puskas Award). Still, his development is extraordinary, the fact that Indonesia can produce a player like him is already great,” he concluded.
