There has been a reaction from the alliance ally Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) on the announcement of Congress separating from Mahavikas Aghadi and contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader Anand Dubey sarcastically said that ‘Congress party is like a tourist in Mumbai’, which comes, roams around and goes away after losing the elections.
Anand Dubey said, “There is no need to take Congress seriously in Mumbai. For the last 30 years, Congress has been continuously sitting in the opposition after losing the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, so which arrow will it shoot in 2026?”
He taunted, “The Congress party is like a tourist in Mumbai. Come, roam around, put up hoardings, banners, campaign and sit at home after losing the elections.”
He says that Congress will face the same fate in BMC elections as it did in Bihar and Haryana elections.
The Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) leader claimed that his party helped the Congress grow in Maharashtra.
Anand Dubey said, “The Congress party had boarded our boat in 2019, due to which it came to the shore a little. If we helped them, it came to the shore. Now they feel that they are very confident, then they should sit in their boat and go. Congress knows whether they will drown in the middle or will be saved.”
He said, “But the loudness of the leaders of Mumbai Congress and what Ramesh Chennithala ji has said that if you fight alone, then fight. You fight, lose and reflect.”
Congress in-charge in Maharashtra Ramesh Chennithala announced on Saturday that Congress will contest the BMC elections separately. He said, “The Congress party is contesting the elections alone. We are confident that the performance of the Congress party will be better in the BMC elections.”
He said that this decision belongs to the local leadership.
