Just before the New Year, Prague residents have the chance to exercise for free and try out new sports. The traditional “Week of Free Sports” will take place in the last week of December 2025.

At the end of the year, Prague residents can get active again: From Thursday, December 25th to Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, the already traditional “Week of Free Sports” (Týden sportu zdarma) will take place in the Czech capital. The aim of the campaign is to give citizens the opportunity to end the year sportingly and to try out numerous sports for free.

“Like every year, at the end of the year we would like to offer people the opportunity to spend their last days actively,” explains Antonín Klecanda, city councilor for sports in Prague. “Instead of just spending the holidays with sweet treats, people in Prague can plan a sporty week and combine exercise with peace and contemplation.”

Some sports venues require telephone or online reservations due to limited capacity. Free access is not always possible during the entire opening hours, but only on selected days and at certain times.

Last year, dozens of sports facilities took part in the campaign and offered a wide range of activities. Thousands of visitors took advantage of the offer – some facilities were even fully booked at times.

Participating sports venues offer activities ranging from swimming, ice skating, climbing, beach volleyball, fitness, badminton, baseball or softball to group fitness classes and martial arts.

The list of participating facilities can currently be expanded if additional operators are added in the coming days. Further information about participating sports venues, opening times and reservations are available prahasportovni.cz available.
