ORTE – The new “home” of the “Hortinae Classes” Archers Company is born in Orte.
Founded in 1987 on the initiative of a group of archery enthusiasts, the Company aimed to expand, at a federal level, the activity until then limited to the contest of the Palio delle sette contrade, an annual historical re-enactment in honor of the Patron Saint.
Objective achieved and fully achieved given that, over the years, the athletes, after numerous successes in regional and national competitions, represented the Lazio region in the Regions’ Cup in the years 1993, 1994, 1995 and dressed, with Sandro Turchetta, the colors of the Italian national bare bow team, making the name of Orte known throughout Europe, from Sweden to Norway, from France to Slovenia.
Now Sandro Turchetta is the president of the newly elected board of directors made up of Niccolò Mei, Walter Taddei, Maria Cristina Menna and Matteo Rossi.
Since last November 22nd the archers have begun another exciting chapter in their history, with the inauguration of the new indoor headquarters, in Vocabolo San Michele in Orte.
The structure, together with the already active shooting range, contributes to the creation of a complete and equipped sports complex where young talents can train thanks to the consolidated experience of a group of expert archers and with the desire to convey the engaging passion for archery.
The company currently has around 35 members and practitioners, also coming from neighboring countries, and is constantly present with its athletes in the numerous national and inter-regional competitions that are held within a radius of three hundred kilometres, as well as taking part in the classic competitions on the national calendar.
These are the next competitions scheduled: the 33rd Hortinae Classes trophy on 17/18 January and the Regional Championship on 7/8 February.
