Araucanía Games 2025: Aysén Medal Updates – Judo & Swimming

With an outstanding participation, the regional delegation obtained eleventh place in the general medal table with 17 medals.
Aysen.- The Aysén Region finished its participation in the XXXII Binational Games of Araucanía La Pampa 2025 with a good performance and with a total of 17 medals: three gold, six silver and eight bronze.

Although the disciplines of judo and swimming were the ones that awarded the medals, football, basketball and volleyball improved their performance and managed to win games and overcome adverse scores. In athletics there were also surprises; such as the 6th place of the athlete Pedro Zúñiga and the 8th place of Alonso Contreras in the same test.
Women’s basketball, meanwhile, achieved a victory over the Santa Cruz teams 83/82, while the men defeated Ñuble 59/43.
In this regard, MINDEP Aysén stated: “As Seremi del Deporte of the Aysén Region, we proudly value the participation of our delegation in the 32nd version of the Araucanía Binational Games held in La Pampa-Argentina. This year, Aysén achieved 17 medals, with a key contribution from judo and swimming, which once again demonstrated its level and projection in competitive sports. As a government, we are also proud to be guarantors that this policy public remains current, putting the right to physical activity and sport at the center, generating real opportunities so that girls, boys and young people can grow and represent their region in spaces of meeting and brotherhood such as these games between Chile and Argentina.”

Meanwhile, Javier Medina Mella, IND Aysén Regional Director, who led and accompanied the delegation, stated: “As the National Sports Institute of the Aysén Region, we made a very positive assessment of our participation in the Araucanía 2025 Binational Games. Our delegation had an outstanding performance, especially in disciplines such as swimming and judo, which reflected the systematic work that has been carried out together with coaches, clubs and families in their training and sports development processes. I want highlight in a special way the logistical and operational work carried out by the officials of the IND Aysén, who played a fundamental role in guaranteeing the participation of our entire delegation.
Adding further that “Without prejudice to the sports results, which we value and recognize, as an institution we mainly rescue the experience that our young people live: the effort, discipline, camaraderie and commitment they demonstrate by representing the Aysén Region with pride and responsibility. These Games not only award medals, but also strengthen sports careers, personal learning and the sense of belonging with the regional shirt, which is ultimately the greatest achievement of this type of instance.”

For a large number of athletes it is their first participation in the Binational Games, while for others it is the last time they will represent our region in this international competition.
Alison Landeros, soccer player from Caleta Tortel commented: “This is my first time at Juegos Araucanía, it was a very good experience, sharing with my teammates, a nice trip, tiring yes but very good, the experience of playing with girls is impressive and I invite more girls to be motivated to play soccer because it is a good experience.”
Meanwhile, Catalina Vásquez, captain of the basketball team, said: “It was a very nice experience, I speak for the entire team, thank you for all the support that the IND gives us and all those who are behind this sporting experience, they are my third and last Araucanía Games and I hope that all the athletes can live this experience because it is very beautiful.”
Likewise, Renato Aguilera, captain of the soccer team, commented: “These are my second and last Araucanía Games, it has been a good experience, we have learned a lot and the training has also helped us improve a lot.”
