Ademola Lookman scored a superb goal in the second half, giving Nigeria victory (2-1) against Tanzania on Tuesday in Fez, during the Group C match of the Africa Cup of Nations. A promising start for the vice-champions of two years ago, despite some scares.
Nigeria dominated the match, both in terms of possession and chances, but lacked realism in front of goal. His lack of efficiency was almost punished by his Tanzanian opponents.
Semi Ajayi opened the scoring for Nigeria in the first half, before Charles M’Mombwa equalized five minutes after the break. The Tanzanian joy was short-lived, however: Lookman scored the winning goal with a long-range shot. Tunisia and Uganda play their first Group C match later this Tuesday in Rabat.
