The election committee in Mjällby AIF can announce today that Magnus Emeus will not stand for re-election to the post of chairman in 2026 and will thus leave the post after a long and successful period in the association.
Magnus Emeus took over as chairman of Mjällby AIF in March 2015. Together with others on the board, Magnus has been driving the introduction of a continuous improvement philosophy which, through hard work and efficient methods, has led to annual improvements in most areas over the past 8-9 years.
Under Magnus’ leadership, Mjällby AIF has achieved great sporting success with, among other things, three series victories, including a SM gold, a cup final and qualification for the CL qualifiers. In parallel, a very robust economy has been created together with a strong organization which means that the association today stands strong and well equipped for the future.
- After almost 11 years as chairman, I have, after much thought, decided to end my assignment in connection with the annual meeting next year. It has been a great honor to lead this fantastic association. After a tough start, we have together experienced a fabulous journey up through the series system which was recently crowned with a fantastic SM gold and thus qualification for a qualification for the Champions League. In 2026, we enter the 7th consecutive Allsvenskan season.
- In addition to the A-team’s success, I am satisfied that we have also continuously developed other parts of our core business, such as our academy and youth, where next year we will play All-Swedish football with all academy teams, and continue to grow with the youth business, now also including girls’ football.
- Of course, I am also very satisfied with how we have strengthened our finances in a controlled manner every year since 2016, which is the basis and security for all our activities and a prerequisite for sporting success.
- This has been a very difficult decision to make, but everything has an end and you have to listen to your body and brain sometimes and not just follow your heart. However, I feel safe to leave at this stage as I have great confidence in the current club management and organization. They have adopted our way of working in a good way and are themselves driven by a zeal for development which is good. There are also many people on the board who have been with us for several years and are well aware of what has brought us to where we are today.
The chairman of the selection committee, Anders Thege, has worked proactively with the issue for a longer period to prepare a new chairman after Magnus.
- First of all, we in the selection committee want to thank Magnus for the fine work he has done for Mjällby AIF for over ten years.
- For the last three years, we have worked based on the fact that this day will come and have nominated candidates for the board who we think can continue to develop the work with Mjällby AIF but also replace some of the areas in which Magnus was good at. That work has continued during 2025 and we will nominate, in addition to the new chairman, another member who we believe will contribute a lot with his specialist expertise.
- In conclusion, we would like to say that there is an enormous amount of competence in the other board members and we feel completely secure that their hard work for Mjällby AIF will continue to contribute to continuous improvement.
