Three pilots had a chance for the championship before the last race of the season at Yas Marina Circuit.
McLaren’s Australian pilot Oscar Piastri had 392 points, RedBull pilot Max Verstappen, the champion of the last four seasons, had 396 points and McLaren’s British pilot Lando Norris had 408 points.
race in Abu Dhabi ‘pole’ Verstappen, who started from the starting position, finished the race first. Piastri was second, 12.594 seconds behind the leader, and Norris was third.
Reaching 423 points, two points ahead of Verstappen, Norris won his first F1 championship.
Speaking after the race, Norris said: “I haven’t cried in a long time. I never thought I would cry. It was a long journey.” he said and thanked his team and family.
