F1 Abu Dhabi GP: Norris Overtake – No Penalty After Review

This could well change this last Formula 1 Grand Prix of the season, in Abu Dhabi. While Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are engaged in a battle for the title of world champion, the Briton, leader of the standings, was guilty of an illegal overtaking on the 23rd lap by crossing the white track limit line. But he was not punished.

Having to face the defense of Yuki Tsunoda, Verstappen’s partner at Red Bul, after a first pit stop, Norris made a mistake. But the commissioners considered that it was the Japanese who was guilty of zigzags prohibited by the regulations. He therefore received a 5-second penalty for changing direction twice.

Before the start, the 3 drivers were separated by only 16 points. Caught between the two McLarens, the Dutchman was 12 points behind the leader and must finish on the podium – hoping for a misstep from his two competitors – to hope to win a 5th title.
