Vohenstrauss. At the TV Judo St. Nicholas Tournament, over 140 young judoka from Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria came together in the triple gym. From 11 a.m. there were fair fights, shining eyes and the first appearances of young referees.

A beautiful and emotional end to the year for the young judo talent from Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria: At this year’s judo Santa Claus tournament (Ivan Sturm Beginner Meeting), the TV Vohenstrauß judo department welcomed over 140 young judoka in the triple gym. The youngest participants were just four years old and gained their first competitive experience on the mat.

With great excitement and shining eyes, the children entered the lovingly prepared hall with four wrestling mats, stands and a rich food buffet. The first encounters started at 11 a.m. until the event came to an end after around four hours of wrestling in the afternoon. The focus was not on placings, but rather on fairness, movement and the joy of judo. For the first time, junior judges were also on duty, accompanied and supported by experienced judges.

The St. Nicholas event was organized for the third time by the judo department of TV Vohenstrauß and once again enjoyed a great response. Clubs from further away, including TSV Abensberg, also made the journey to give their children a careful introduction to competitive sports.

Award ceremony with Santa Claus as the highlight

The celebratory highlight was the award ceremony given by the department head Bernd Koller was taken over. All children went home as winners and proudly received their first judo trophy and a Santa Claus. The honor was supported by the present Santa Claus, represented by Dominik Buchbinderyouth representative from the board of TV Vohenstrauß, who made many children’s eyes shine with his appearance.

A big thank you goes to the numerous helpers who contributed to the smooth running of the event with their efforts in setting up and dismantling, running the counter and coffee, and donating cakes. In the end, the many positive feedback from parents, coaches and clubs made it clear: the judo Santa Claus tournament was a complete success and a worthy end to the judo year for the youngsters.
