The world of French football is in mourning. This Friday, Jean-Louis Gasset, 72, died. A notable football player, for his skills, his cheekiness, his experience and his kindness, the former midfielder converted to coach, in the position of assistant or number one, leaves behind a rich career.
Alongside Luis Fernandez, then Laurent Blanc (2007-2016) for many years at the Girondins de Bordeaux, in the French team and at Paris SG, Jean-Louis Gasset subsequently moved to Montpellier. The club of his heart, which has paid tribute to him since the announcement of his death.

After the MHSC in 2017, which he will return to during the 2024-2025 season, Jean-Louis Gasset continued his career as head coach at AS Saint-Étienne (2017-2019), before taking charge of the Girondins de Bordeaux (2020-2021), then becoming coach of Côte d’Ivoire (2022-2024) and the Olympique de Marseille between February and May 2024. To his mother Éliane, his daughter Coralie, his son Robin, the Figaro sends its sincere condolences.
