Brazilian gymnastics has been hit by sad news. At the age of only 18, the talented modern gymnast Isabelle Marciniaková died, succumbing to an oncological disease. Her death was confirmed by the Gymnastics Federation of the Brazilian state of Paraná.
The young athlete, who was Brazil’s champion in modern gymnastics in 2021, was battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In an official statement, the federation highlighted her legacy and passion for the sport.
“May her story, passion for sport and memory live on as an inspiration to all who believe in gymnastics as a tool for human development and transformation,” she said.
Isabelle Marciniaková came from the city of Araucária in the Curitiba region and was a member of the modern gymnastics team of the Agir Curitiba club.
During her career, she won several state and national titles and was among the greatest talents of Brazilian gymnastics.
In 2021, she triumphed at the national championship in the individual competition, she also won gold in the team with the ball and silver with the ribbon.
Her most recent achievements include the senior triples title at the Paranaense de Conjuntos event in 2023, after which she had to interrupt her career due to difficult treatment.
