GAZİANTEP (AA) – ÖMER FARUK SALMAN – Gaziantep Basketball, one of the Türkiye Sigorta Turkish Basketball League teams, does not want to give up the leadership position it has reached after a long period.
Gaziantep Basketball, which had 11 wins and 2 losses in 13 matches in the league, is at the top with 24 points.
The red-black team, which has completed its last 4 matches undefeated, aims to maintain its leadership by continuing its successful series.

Head Coach of the team, Şemsettin Baş, told the AA reporter that they have been working very well since the beginning of the season and that despite some injuries and setbacks, they have been rewarded for their efforts as a team.
Emphasizing that there are tough teams in the league and achieving this success is not easy, Baş said:
‘The children showed incredible character, fought and took the leadership seat. Getting 11 wins in 13 matches is not an easy thing in this period. As a team, we become a much better and more dangerous team, especially when we stick to the system and play the system. We play all home matches more aggressively. We want to extend this to away games as well. Especially the away match against Ankara that we will play this week is very important. A tough and difficult match awaits us there.’

Reminding that when he took office, the team was at the bottom and trying to establish its own system and made it to the play-offs last season, Baş stated that this season, the players’ acceptance and adaptation to the system made him happy, regardless of the results.

Stating that they want to win every match, Baş said:
‘It’s very difficult to come here. We worked hard. Climbing to the leadership seat is a difficult and long road. It is very difficult to stay here and maintain this. To maintain this, we need to work harder, be more disciplined and concentrated. We want to stay here too. We expect support from both our fans, the Gaziantep press and our politicians. Because Gaziantep deserves much more.’
Utku Yücedağ, one of the players, said that they were very happy with the results.
Yücedağ stated that they set a goal at the beginning of the season and they are progressing in this direction and said, ‘We are happy to have reached the place we deserved, now we will work to maintain it. I hope we finish the season like this.’ he said.
