Braunschweig basketball star Dennis Schröder has clear priorities for the coming year.

Basketball star Dennis Schröder has had a very strong season and is currently clearly one of the top performers for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. His wishes for the new year show that he has big plans for 2026: “I want my family to stay healthy and I want to make history,” explains the 32-year-old.

Schröder was born in Braunschweig in 1993 and grew up around the Prinzenpark, where he was discovered as a teenager on the outdoor square. He played his first professional years for his hometown club: via the Braunschweig youth program in the BBL to the New York Phantoms Braunschweig, today’s Basketball Lions.

Schröder regularly emphasizes that Braunschweig is his hometown and he wants to give something back to the region; Family and close friends continue to live there. The city recognized his commitment with honorary citizenship in 2025. The gymnasium of his former school is now called “Dennis Schröder Hall”.
