The French striker Ousmane Dembéléfrom Paris Saint-Germain, won the award for best player in the world, this Tuesday (16), at the FIFA The Best 2025 ceremony, in Doha, Qatar.
PSG’s protagonist in the unprecedented 2024-25 Champions League title, Dembélé had already won the Ballon d’Or in September, and now unifies the two main awards for the best in the world.
The 28-year-old striker surpassed competitors such as Brazilian Raphinha (Barcelona), teammate Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), as well as PSG colleagues Vitinha, Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.
The last Brazilian to win the FIFA best player award was Vinicius Júnior, in 2024. The Real Madrid striker, however, was not among the finalists in this year’s edition.
Last season, Dembélé made 53 appearances for PSG, scoring 35 goals and contributing 14 assists. In addition to the Champions League, he won Ligue 1, the French Cup and the European Super Cup.
Dembélé could face Flamengo on Wednesday (17)
The second Frenchman to win The Best, after Zinédine Zidade, the striker traveled with the PSG squad to Qatar, where the team plays the Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo, this Wednesday (17).
Dembélé has struggled with physical problems this season. He missed the team’s last two matches due to a virus, but has now recovered.
Of PSG’s 23 matches this season, the striker was present in 13 of them, with three goals scored and three assists. His last goal appearance was in October, when he scored against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
