Reinforced security at the Massot stadium for Le Puy – Girondins de Bordeaux
The Girondins de Bordeaux are preparing to challenge Le Puy Foot 43 Auvergne this Sunday (5:30 p.m.) for a place in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. If the issue is sporting, eyes are also turning towards the stands of the Massot stadium. With more than 3,000 spectators expected, including around 300 Bordeaux supporters, the prefecture classified the meeting as “sensitive” indicates the media La Gossip 43.
The reasons for vigilance: internal rivalries and Saint-Etienne friendships
It is not so much the opposition between the two clubs that is worrying, but rather the composition of the visiting field. The authorities point to two risk factors:
– The rivalry between Bordeaux ultras: The cohabitation between the Northgate sections and the Ultramarines (UB87) remains a subject of close monitoring.
– The UB87 friendship – Magicfans: The geographical proximity of Puy to Saint-Étienne raises fears of the presence of members of the Magicfans (historical friends of the UB87), which could increase tensions in the event of a meeting with other groups.
A strict security system for FCGB supporters
To avoid any incidents, the prefecture has taken several radical measures via a prefectural decree:
– Supervision and escort: Bordeaux supporters will be escorted by the police to the stadium.
– Separate sectors: In the enclosure, the different sections will be placed in separate sectors to avoid friction.
– Ban on walking: Any supporter claiming to be Girondins is prohibited from traveling in the city center of Puy-en-Velay or in neighboring municipalities.
– Police reinforcements: A Republican Security Company (CRS) and zonal reinforcements will be deployed to support local personnel.
Furthermore, the use of smoke bombs and pyrotechnic items is strictly prohibited around the stadium. The Puy club has also strengthened its team of professional stewards to ensure the smooth running of this football festival which, despite the constraints, promises to be electric.
