Conference League Exit: Analysis & Reaction

Five games, zero wins.

Häcken’s stay in the Conference League is over.

Against Larnaca from Cyprus it was 1–1 at New Ullevi.

Häcken needed to beat Larnaca and also win the match against Slovan Bratislava on 18 December to still have a chance to progress in the tournament.

The chance lived for a long time with 0-0 on the scoreboard a bit into the second half.

However, the deadlock was to be broken, by the away team with little more than 25 minutes left to play. Larnaca’s Jorge Miramon looked for a ball in Häcken’s penalty area and then, via Filip Helander, scored the lead goal for the visitors.

Häcken did not give up and equalized in the 94th minute through Johan Hammar. However, the Hisings team never came closer than that.

Hedge is now 29th out of 36 teams in the league phase and cannot pass enough teams. In order to reach the playoff for the playoffs, the worst finish is 24th.

Larnaca are unbeaten in the league phase of the Conference League, with two wins and three draws.
