MADRID, 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
FC Barcelona won this Wednesday 0-2 on their visit to Paris FC, with goals from Vicky López and Caroline Graham Hansen, in a match corresponding to the sixth and final day of the group stage in the Women’s Champions League, the result of which has sealed the leadership for the culés and their direct ticket to the quarterfinals.
At the Jean Bouin Stadium, the first clear chance was for Barça Femení with a shot by Aïcha Camara from outside the area and which ended in a corner, after the ball had tripped on an opponent. On that serve, the local defense blocked a volley from Laia Aleixandri inside the area and a little later a header from Irene Paredes, from another corner, hit the post.
Paris’ response was not long in coming with an attack put together by Hawa Sangaré, who opened towards the arrival of Kaja Korosec on the left side, but her subsequent low shot was cleared by Cata Coll. In that alternation, Barça scored 0-1 in the 22nd minute after a robbery by Alexia Putellas in the center of the field and which accelerated everything quickly.
That ball arrived at the feet of Clàudia Pina, who saw space to assist Vicky López who cut in front of two defenders and finished with quality with her point-blank shot. The Parisian team barely suffered the blow and immediately went close to equalizing with a left-footed shot by Maëlle Garbino from the balcony of the area, but which ended up crashing into the far post.
Pere Romeu’s men imposed their rhythm until half-time and, as soon as they returned from the locker room, they extended their lead. An offensive on the left wing allowed Vicky López to run diagonally and the ball ended up in Graham Hansen, who in front of the area turned without close marking and executed a low right hand that brushed against a local player and bounced in.
Perhaps Mylène Chavas, goalkeeper for a Paris team that had little firepower, could have done something more. Sandrine Soubeyrand’s substitutions took a long time to come and Barça did not press the pressure either, knowing that this score assured them the lead in the league despite the rout of their immediate pursuer, Olympique Lyonnais, during their match against Atlético de Madrid.
Pere Romeu brought in key players and the Blaugranas, dressed in orange for this occasion, certified this victory without any problems in the capital of France. The harvest could have even been greater, as Chavas made a good save on Pina’s shot in the 84th minute and then, close to added time, Kika Nazareth also missed the mark by turning inside the French area.
In that added time, a Putellas goal was disallowed for offside at the origin of the play. The solid victory placed Barça with 16 points and +17 in goal difference at the top of the standings, while Paris was left with 8 points and will play the toll in the round of 16.
