State level inter-divisional badminton boys competition will be played in the indoor stadium of Sandys Compound from Sunday. Players from Tirhut, Saharanpur, Munger, Purnia, Kosi, Patna, Magadh have started reaching Bhagalpur for the competition to be held till 10th December. The competition will be inaugurated by DM Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary.
The competition will be for the age groups of Under-14, 17 and 19. 12 players including four players each in all three age groups and three team in-charges will participate from each division. Players have been selected for the divisional level on the basis of better performance in the previous competitions held at the district level. The competition will be played in knockout mode. Participation certificates will be given to all the players and medals will be given to the winners. The best 5 players of each age group who perform better in the competition will be selected for the national competition. Meanwhile, District Sports Officer Jai Narayan Kumar took stock of the preparations and arrangements of the court on Saturday. He told that the matches will be played from 8 am to 7 pm. Bihar State Sports Authority Patna has deputed 16 technical officers for operations.
