A sporting change from everyday school life is worth its weight in gold. That’s why we’re particularly pleased that so many school classes visit us for their gymnastics lessons or for unforgettable sports days. We make the organization as uncomplicated as possible for teachers so that the focus can be entirely on the movement and fun of the children and young people. This makes the school trip a positive and energetic experience for everyone.
For many years, the students of the Graz1 state vocational school have been looking forward to taking part in the sporting course completion at the Graz Attention Badminton Center. The apprentices took part in the final tournament with great enthusiasm and great commitment. Our story
The Attention was the institution for badminton in Styria for a long time. Generations of players grew up here, made friends and experienced unforgettable moments on the courts.
But the future of the hall was at stake: A planned housing project seriously jeopardized the existence of the center. Andi Nischelwitzer, who was an enthusiastic club player himself, decided to fight. After many intensive negotiations, he managed to acquire the entire shares in the badminton hall – a big step to save this only pure badminton hall in Styria.
When the operator at the time had to stop commercial operations and, despite many interested parties, no one dared to take the financial risk, Andi was faced with a crucial choice: shut down or take responsibility himself? The answer came quickly: Together with his wife and family and the existing Badminton Center team, he decided to to continue operations.
Im August 2023 Andi and Lisa-Maria Mayer took over the management together. Lisa had known the center for a long time and had been an important part of the team for years. Since then, the two have been working every day to get the center back on the road to success – with new ideas, continuous improvements and the support of one growing, vibrant community.
Today the Attention is again what it should always be: a lively, future-oriented one Place for everyone who loves badminton.

Andi’s story: Why Attention still exists today
When I found out that the Attention was going to make way for another housing project, I accepted the challenge. After many tough negotiations – real individual battles – I finally acquired the entire shares in the badminton hall. I hoped my goal, to maintain the only pure badminton hall in Styriato have achieved this.
But then the tenant at the time informed me that it was no longer possible to operate economically and that he had to give up. I was back at the beginning of my dreams. For some time I tried to find a new operator. Despite many interested parties, there was not a single person who wanted to take the financial risk of taking over a loss-making badminton center – which was understandable up to a certain point.

At that moment I realized: Either I close the sports facility permanently, or I take full responsibility myself and run the hall. You have to know that I was already running two other companies at that point and my time resources were already very limited. However, after a brief consultation with my wife, who gave me additional encouragement in my plan, the decision was made very quickly to run the Attention myself.
I was also very fortunate that Lisa-Maria Mayer – who had been working at Attention for a long time and had taken on important tasks – agreed to take over the management and management together with me to take over the team at that time.
We have been running the business together since August 2023. Since then, there has been a special dynamic: Hardly a day goes by when we don’t develop new ideas. We try out a lot – some things are implemented, developed further or sometimes discarded. It is precisely this process that keeps us moving forward and we are well on the way to improving our operations back into the profit zone to lead.
For this I would like to thank Lisa, the entire team, but also every single visitor from the bottom of my heart. Without you, Attention would just be an empty shell. Only through you will it be filled with life.

Lisa’s story: Why Attention became my second home
I associate many things with attention Memories from my childhood. My dad always took me to the hall and I ran around enthusiastically and collected broken balls. I was really drawn into it later by a friend who told me about one great job at the center told. So I applied – and that began my very own attention story.
Soon the center became like one to me second home. I often went there in my free time, chatted with the employees and simply enjoyed the special atmosphere. The team felt like a small family – and even after a few short breaks I was always drawn back.

With Andi taking over, we can face new challenges and our many ideas together. Now we would like to take the Attention further forward and together create a place where all sports-loving badminton players feel comfortable and enjoy getting together.
