In this match, AC Milan actually had a golden opportunity to take the lead.

Adrien Rabiot had a chance in front of Napoli’s goal, but his header from a cross flew narrowly over the crossbar guarded by Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

On the other hand, Rasmus Hojlund appeared to be the difference for Napoli by recording one goal and one assist which led to David Neres’ opener.

Domination of Ball Possession Does Not Result in Goals

Statistically, AC Milan appears more dominant than Napoli.

The Rossoneri recorded 58 percent possession of the ball and attempted 12 shots throughout the match.

However, effectiveness is a differentiator. AC Milan was only able to record two shots on target.

Allegri’s evaluation of effectiveness and defense

Allegri believes that his team must be sharper in taking advantage of opportunities, especially when they are able to master the game.
