Il soccer continues to lead the Italian sports system. Even if the exponential growth of other sports such as swimming must be recorded, volleyballand above all the tennisI urge. This is demonstrated by the 2026 contribution statement that the BoD of Sport and Health decided yesterday.
At the sports bodies they end up 344.4 million euros total (a figure slightly higher than this year, when there were 343.7 million). As mentioned, the federations that receive the most contributions remain in command FIGC with a figure just over 35 millionconfirming last year’s figures. However, the rise of tennis continues and not only thanks to the successes of its champions, Sinner in particular. If for 2025, in fact, the FITPwas the fifth highest paid federation, next year it will be the fourth with a contribution that exceeds 16 million (+2 million compared to the previous year, taking the ceiling in this round).
Second and third place respectively for I swim (18,620,135 mln) e volleyball (17,864,540), the latter fresh from the double world championship gold of the two major national teams. Both federations are growing, like theathleticswith a figure close to 15 million. Then they also grow vela, rugby, skate e surfwhile all the others remain substantially stable with only three national sports federations with a minus sign compared to 2025 (penthatlon, badminton e powerboating). Below are the top 10 federations for 2026 contributions:
- FIGC (football) – 35.2 million euros (+0.06% compared to 2025)
- FIN (swimming) – 18.6 million (+10.6%)
- FIPAV (volleyball) – 17.9 million (+4.6%)
- FITP (tennis-padel) – 16.1 million (+15%)
- FIDAL (athletics) – 14, 9 million (+0.3%)
- FISI (winter sports) – 12.6 million (+0.2%)
- FIP (basketball) – 10.4 million (+0.2%)
- FIS (fencing) – 10.2 million (+0.2%)
- FGI (gymnastics) – 10.1 million (+0.1%)
- FCI (cycling) – 9.7 million (+0.3%)
For the allocation of contributions that sees the growth of Italian sport system, not only the sporting meritbecause the logic of the state’s society also includes growth of the movement in its entirety (number of active members, companies and technicians), theoperational efficiency with the ability to best optimize the use of public resources and management model of organisms oriented towards sustainability, responsibility and aligned with ESG pillars.
So what emerges is aItaly more active with over 640 thousand more people who practice sports organized compared to previous years and in any case at the top of the world rankings. A result also fruit of general growth of resources thanks to the mechanism ofself-financing which, from 2019 to today (despite the Covid involved), has produced a overall increase of 25%equal to 569 million more. «A virtuous model of circular economy of sport» defines it as Sport and Salutewhere the resources, to which are added those for the infrastructure focused on suburbs and grassroots sports, which are reinvested to guarantee theaccess to sports practice generating a social return in terms of Salutewell-being and inclusion greater than three times the initial value.
