ZPOT discusses movie theme song nomination and basketball training

Cantopop boy band ZPOT discussed their movie theme song nomination and geared up for a basketball tournament during an appearance at the Neway Music Awards 2026 press conference on December 30, global.hk01.com reported.

Movie Track Recognition

The seven-member group attended the press conference together to discuss their recent milestone: recording their first joint movie theme song in a brand-new musical style. When asked by reporters about attending the upcoming Golden Horse Awards ceremony, member Ian Hannz explained that their weekly schedules remain fluid. “So it should take some time before we can decide,” Ian Hannz said, noting that a final decision depends entirely on their upcoming timetable.

Addressing their chances of winning, Ian Hannz expressed gratitude for the nomination alone. “Actually, being nominated is already something to be very grateful for,” he said. “Because at the time, we never thought this song could receive this kind of honor. So going as far as getting a nomination, I feel that as our first year since debut, I feel that is already very satisfying.”

High Demand and Strict Limits for Award Show Tickets

With the music awards ceremony approaching, the members were asked if they had managed to secure tickets for family and friends. The group laughed, explaining they had already checked with their manager only to be told that no extra passes were available. Due to extremely high demand, the seven members hold no additional tickets to distribute.

Member Cow added that the group plans to use the event primarily as a learning opportunity. “With so many seniors there, I think we should just watch on that day,” Cow said. “We are already going to be very busy, just learning on that day will keep us extremely busy.”

Injuries and Comedy on the Basketball Court

Alongside their musical commitments, ZPOT has spent recent weeks training intensively for an upcoming basketball tournament. Alvin revealed that the group has been visiting local street basketball courts to practice vigorously, an effort that resulted in vice-captain Dave suffering a sprained ankle—locally referred to as “au-chai.”

Playing down their competitive edge, the members joked that their main on-court strategy involves passing the ball directly to teammates and handling support tasks like distributing towels and water. They emphasized that winning is secondary to gaining experience by playing alongside industry seniors, even jokingly suggesting they might incorporate kung fu moves to liven up the arena atmosphere.

Internal Rivalry Over the Scoring Crown

The group’s preparations took a lighthearted turn when reporters asked who would step up as the team’s primary scorer. Alvin, Dave, Bosco, and Gordon immediately broke into friendly internal conflict, each rushing forward to claim the title of top scorer. The question of who truly deserves the “scoring king” crown remains open until the tournament tips off.

Alvin also shared a humorous encounter from the local street courts, where a fellow basketball player recognized him and asked if he served as the team captain. The interaction ended with a friendly photo before the player departed.
