2026 Motocross Rules: Commission Updates Approved

The LaMSF Motocross Commission held an e-meeting on November 28, during which bylaw changes for the 2026 motocross season were approved.

We invite all athletes, teams and competition organizers to familiarize themselves with the planned changes:

New editions of the regulations

  • (National Cup) Cancel these points in the regulations:

5.4.7. At the end of each season, all first-place winners in individual stages, as well as all first-three place winners in their group in the overall season ranking, are moved to a higher Rank group.

5.4.8. All riders who did not participate in the MXNK 2022, 2023, 2024 seasons are deleted from the MXNK Ranking table. Participants are deleted once a season by publishing the current Ranking for the next season.

  • (National Cup) Cancel the MX Zero class (clause of the regulations enters into force with the 2027 season)

  • (National Cup) Remove technical control from the agenda. This measure is not required.

  • (Latvian Cup) MX15+ ( MX1, MX2, or MX3 Athletes from 15 to 30 years old)

In the MX15+ class may not start with such conditions:

  1. If the athlete the last 3 has participated in individual or team World and European Championship stages (Excluding MX Ladies European Championship) or finals in Motocross, except if the athlete has not competed in the LaMSF motocross competition for the last 5 years;
  2. If the athlete has been to the Latvian championship 85cm3, 125, MX2 or MX1 ​​class 1st-5th overall winner, except for cases where the athlete has not competed in LaMSF motocross competitions for the last 3 years;

  • (Latvian Cup) MX30+ class

in the MX30+ class may not start with such conditions:

  1. If the athlete the last 3 has participated in the individual or team finals of the World and European Championship in Motocross, except if the athlete has not competed in the last LaMSF motocross competition 3 years;
  2. If the athlete has been to the Latvian championship 85 cm3, MX125MX2 or MX1 ​​class 1st-5th place winner overall, except when the athlete in the LaMSF motocross competition has not competed in the last 3 years or the athlete has not competed in the LCMX competition for 3 years in the TOP5.

  • (Latvian Cup) Cancel the MX45+ and MX55+ classes (Article of the Regulations enters into force in the 2027 season)

  • (Latvian Cup) 1.4.1. add the following point:

Latvian Cup in classes MX15+; MX30+; MX40+; MX45+; MX50+; MX55+; MX60+- may not be driven with MXPRO class licenses, including FIM or FIM europe licenses, neither LaMSF-licensed athletes nor athletes from other FMN countries.

  • (Latvian Cup) The following conditions may not be used in the MX Novice class:
    1. If the athlete in one of the previous seasons in one of the competition disciplines or classes in the Latvian Championship, in the Latvian Cup, with the exception of the MX Novice class, was the 1st-15th place winner
    2. If the athlete has won 1st-3rd place in at least one of the competition stages of the current season during three (3) seasons.
  1. If the athlete has participated in competitions organized by the FIM at least once;
  2. Foreign athletes.
  3. The athlete has won the first place in the MX Novice class in the overall standings of previous seasons in three.

  • (Latvian Cup) Find the opportunity for amateurs to participate and try their hand at higher-level competitions, such as the European Championship (EC) or the World Championship (WC), while maintaining their amateur status in all classes. Under the condition that the stage takes place only on the territory of Latvia.

1.6.1 The minimum number of athletes to win the title of Latvian Champion in the class in the overall ranking of the season is 6 athletes. If the number of athletes in one season competition is less than 6 participants in the class, then the title of the Latvian Cup is won in these classes in the overall ranking of the season.

  • (Championship of Latvia) Changes in the evaluation criteria of LČMX clubs (Appendix no. 1)

  • The motocross commission informs that in the 2026 season, a transponder usage fee of 5 EUR will be added to the competition participation fee. The said fee does not apply to athletes using a personal transponder.
