Tunisia will take part, from November 19 to 23, in the African archery championships in Abidjan in Ivory Coast, with six archers.
“The Tunisian archery selection will be represented at this continental competition by six athletes: two in the senior category (Roua Ben Abdelkader and Mohamed Hammed) and four in the under-18 category (Arwa Ben Dakhane, Ritej Chaïeb, Mohamed Hédi Ben Hamed and Khalil Sassi), under the supervision of national coach Belgacem Mekki,” said the national technical director of the Tunisian Shooting Federation, Abdemajid Belhassen, in a statement made Wednesday to TAP.
According to the DTN, these championships constitute a qualifying stage for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games for cadets (under 18 years old).
“To guarantee their qualification for the Youth Olympic Games, which will be held for the first time on the African continent, athletes must reach the podium and achieve the minimum qualifying score,” explained Belhassen.
The technician further indicated that this competition will be preceded by a training course organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), as part of the plan implemented by the international Olympic body to further develop this sporting discipline on the African continent.
