
Le duc Phat, a seasoned competitor who has represented Vietnam in the last two SEA Games (31st adn 32nd), is setting his sights on a triumphant return at SEA Games 33. While past performances in the men’s singles badminton event haven’t yielded the desired results, Phat is channeling that experience into a renewed drive for success.
Reflecting on his journey, Phat shared his perspective: Each tournament holds notable memories for me. In Vietnam in 2022, I was notably eager to make a personal mark, as it was the SEA Games hosted on home soil. Regrettably, I wasn’t able to achieve that goal. Similarly, in Cambodia in 2023, I faced a quarterfinal exit in the men’s singles, which provided valuable lessons.
Currently immersed in professional training in Bac Ninh, Phat’s primary focus is the SEA Games 33, scheduled for December in thailand. He emphasizes the importance of seizing this opportunity,stating his commitment to giving his absolute best to contend for a medal.
A significant milestone in Phat’s career was his official qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.This experience in a high-stakes international arena proved invaluable. After the Olympics, I learned a tremendous amount competing on such grand stages. Most importantly,I discovered the resilience to maintain my spirit,regardless of the circumstances.
While the current year has presented its challenges in terms of professional performance, the coaching staff of the Vietnam national badminton team remains optimistic about Phat’s potential for a breakthrough at SEA Games 33.They believe he has a genuine chance to secure a medal.
It’s crucial to acknowledge the formidable talent pool within Southeast Asian badminton. The region boasts some of the world’s top players, making the SEA Games a highly competitive environment. Phat acknowledges this reality, stating, I am maintaining a calm and stable mindset, fully prepared for the competition in Thailand.
In Vietnamese men’s badminton, Le Duc Phat and Nguyen Hai Dang have emerged as key figures, demonstrating consistent progress in recent years. However,to challenge for a medal on Thai soil,they will need to deliver exceptional performances. Phat credits his veteran teammate, Nguyen Tien Minh, for invaluable guidance. Anh Tien Minh has achieved significant success in the SEA Games and numerous international competitions.I’ve learned a great deal from him through our discussions on professional strategies.
Achieving success in any sport requires a multifaceted approach. Experts have identified several unique strengths in Le Duc Phat’s game, suggesting that with continued development, he has the potential to reach even greater heights.
Prior to his SEA Games 33 campaign, le Duc Phat has participated in 16 international competitions this year.He views each event as a crucial opportunity for growth and accumulation of experience.My objective, along with the entire Vietnam badminton team, is to strive for the best possible results in Thailand. The team is diligently preparing and remaining focused during this critical phase.
In a significant boost to his confidence, Le Duc Phat secured victory in the men’s singles at the Vietnam International Series 2025, which concluded in Bac Ninh on November 2nd. This marks his first international title of 2025, signaling strong form heading into major competitions.
