Viktors Morozs, head coach of the Latvian football club RFS, made comments after the last game of the season.

It has already been reported that yesterday in the last Riga derby of the Latvian football league season, the vice-champion RFS defeated the champion “Riga” 4:3 at the “Skonto” stadium. “Riga” won the Latvian championship from 2018 to 2020. In 2021, the Riga team finished fourth, but in the previous three years they took second place behind “Valmiera” in 2022 and RFS in the following two seasons.

“I don’t want to single out one game in particular,” said Moroz about the decisive moment of the season. “There was a long period at the beginning of the season, despite the fact that there were points, but we saw that not everything worked to the end. Maybe this season we weren’t hungry, we also understood why it happened. We also knew it before the season that it would be very difficult, but I don’t want to make excuses now.”

“Of course, “Riga” had much more of this hunger after five years without a title,” said the RFS captain. “You can’t say that we lost the championship, because the opponent really played very well this season, but I am sure that we could have done more. I also have complaints against myself, because maybe I also had a situation where it was like we were ready for the fight and everything else, but there was nothing more than it was before. We have to come back stronger.”

Also, Moroz commented on his position as head coach of RFS. “I can’t give 100%, but all my thoughts are with the club. If at one point the management doesn’t like it, then I won’t stay. I want to continue working here. I’m a bit angry with myself because I wasn’t at the top at some moments. In previous years, we put everything on track and it was only important to correct something because everything was working. The hardest thing for me was not to disturb. This year I continued to do it, but I realized too late that it can’t continue because we haven’t on the rails.”
