“We could live with a point in Cologne,” said the BV team manager Andreas Ruth. “In the home games they are usually stronger, and their defeats so far have all been very close.” In the cathedral city it will also be a reunion for the red and whites with their ex-player Kira Kattenbeck give.
The Weselers are then on duty on Sunday. “Wipperfeld is still having a hard time as a promoted team, we should win this game,” demands Ruth, whose club would take further big steps towards staying in the league with at least three points from these two games. Both West German Championships In the U11 to U19 age groups, BV Wesel was represented with eleven participants in all age groups, more than in a long time. “We were also more successful than we have been for a long time,” says Andreas Ruth. “This success is the result of the intensive promotion of competitive sports by our professional coaching team under the performance of the former top 10 world ranking player and two-time Olympian Ella Diehl. We already laid the foundation for this success in 2016 with the commitment of her husband Rainer Diehl and laid a little later by Ella Diehl. Two years ago, Rainer’s sporting achievements were transferred to Ella.”
Four Weseler talents won the DM ticket in six disciplines: Lea Diehl in U15 singles and doubles Nathalie Wittenbrock (SuS Obere Saar); Pauline Hagemann in the U17 doubles Youran Xu (German Chinese SCC Düsseldorf); Youri Schwarz in U17 singles and doubles Ivan Dzhus (1. BV Mülheim) as well Henri Saur in the U19 singles.

On her way to the U15 runner-up title in Mülheim, Lea Diehl easily eliminated the first-seeded player in two sets in the semifinals and won the U17 doubles with her club colleague Pauline Hagemann also silver. Youri Schwarz and Ivan Dzhus only dropped one set on their way to the WDM title. Henri Saur, who like Schwarz is already a player for the Wesel regional league team, narrowly lost the semi-final in three sets. “We are particularly pleased about our youngest medal winners in the U11 girls’ singles, Pauline Jung and Johanna Bennerwho took bronze,” said Ruth.
