A silver medal and another bronze was the result obtained by the Dominican Republic on the fifth day yesterday of the XX Bolivarian Sports Games held in this city and in Ayacucho.
The silver medal was won by the women’s badminton double, with the athletes Nairobi Jiménez and Clarissa Confident, while the women’s softball team took third place by beating Bolivia in the dispute for bronze, and the sailer Samuel Pérez Camacho achieved third place in the IQFOIL modality.
With the result, the Dominican Republic reached 14 medals, including one gold, five silver and eight bronze, to place itself in eighth position in the overall medal table. The taekwondo tournament starts this Friday in Ayacucho, where four athletes will compete, while men’s field hockey entered the medal dispute.
Jiménez and Confident won the silver medal in the women’s doubles category by losing 2 sets to 0 against the Guatemalans Nikte Sotomayor and Diana Corletto on the last date of the badminton tournament of the Bolivarian Games.
The sets ended 21-11, 21-15 in favor of the Guatemalan couple, who made their status as favorites known from the beginning of the match, without giving the Quisqueyan players any options.

Eduarda Rocha pitched wonders in the victory of the Dominican team 10 runs to 0 against the representation of Bolivia on the final day of the women’s softball tournament held at the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Sports Complex in Lima. With the victory, the Quisqueyan team won the bronze medal of the tournament, in which they finished with an overall record of 4-3, while Bolivia finished with a 0-7 mark.
The Dominicans left the Bolivian girls without a hit or runs, supported by the good pitch performance of Rocha, who covered the four innings with two walks and three strikeouts in the triumph by knockout of the Creole troop.

The Dominican Samuel Antonio Pérez Camacho won the bronze medal in the IQFOIL Regatta modality of the Sailing competitions held at the Peruvian Yacht Club, Paracas Bay.
To occupy third place in the competition, Pérez Camacho finished with a time of 21 minutes and a net score of 18. The Creole sailer received two points in three of the eight races and three in five to score the best third result of the competition.
