Schröder Hall of Fame: James Weighs In

Is Dennis Schröder ready for the international basketball Hall of Fame? For two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash, this is no question. And superstar LeBron James also believes that the special honor for the German world champion and European champion is quite possible.

“I looked at a lot of his stats and achievements after EuroBasket this summer. If it came to that, I wouldn’t say, ‘Oh my God, I’m so surprised,'” James, who once played on a team with Schröder on the Los Angeles Lakers, said on the Mind the Game podcast.

Nash became even clearer. “He’s a Hall of Famer,” said Dirk Nowitzki’s former teammate on the Dallas Mavericks.

The Canadian mentioned Schröder’s Most Valuable Player awards at the 2023 World Cup and this summer’s European Championships, as well as reaching the semi-finals at the 2024 Olympics: “Isn’t that a Hall of Famer?”

Dirk Nowitzki is the only German to date to be a member of the legendary Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, which is considered the sport’s most important hall of fame.

The NBA’s absolute top stars are usually inducted into this hall of fame. However, there is also a category in which international stars are also inducted into the Hall of Fame for their successes, for example in FIBA tournaments.

The world association FIBA also has its own Hall of Fame. Detlef Schrempf was the first German player to be included in this in 2021. Schröder should be almost guaranteed a place here in the future.
