Stade Français – Montauban: 47-24
The tone is set. Eager to turn the page of a failed year with a pitiful 12e Place, the Stade Français began its season by upgrading the promoted Montauban (47-24), Saturday September 6, 2025 at the Jean-Bouin stadium, at the opening of the first day of Top 14.
Far from the agitations of the past season, between the ends of the staff and fear of relegation, the club of the capital has broken its new hybrid lawn more serenely, installed during the summer to share the stadium with the footballers of the Paris FC.
Louis Carbonel to his advantage
Carried by an excellent Louis Carbonel at the opening, perhaps the author of his best match with the pink soldiers since his arrival in 2024, the Stade Français intermittently covered an ambitious game, in clear progress compared to the past season, despite defensive generosity.
On the other hand, learning the Top 14 promises to be still long for Montauban, a small thumb of the championship of which it has the lowest budget, often exceeded by the speed of Parisian offensives. It only took five minutes in Paris to score his first points, the rear Joe Jonas piercing in the center of the field, well served by Carbonel, to finish in the in-goal (5e).
