It is a ballot, on which the opponents of Vincent Labrune were betting to increase their weight, in the hope of overthrowing, ultimately, the disputed president of the Professional Football League (LFP). While the General Assembly of the League was to renew the college of representatives of Ligue 1 clubs on the board of directors on Wednesday, September 10, Fabrice Bocquet, Waldemar Kita and Loïc Féry, respectively presidents of the clubs of Nice, Nantes and Lorient, were finally elected within the executive. The fourth candidate, Jean-Michel Roussier (Le Havre) was not appointed.
A failure interpreted by connoisseurs of internal power relations as a sign that Vincent Labrune retains great power and loyal networks, likely to block the road to those who would like to dislodge it. “It shows that it still has a definite influence and that it will not be easy to make it leave …”observes one of them. The entourage of the president of the LFP, for his part, sees it as proof that there is within the body “A silent majority that works and a noisy minority that is agitated”.
