After 97 games played, the new European champions are found in Flag Football. On the final day, Germany (U15-Mixed), Spain (U17 boys) and Italy (U17 girls) crowned the new European champion at the Football Young European Football in the American Football Center.

The most successful nation in the European Championship is Germany with once gold (U15 mixed) and once silver (U17 girls), in front of Spain with gold (U17 boys) and bronze (U15 mixed).

Austria again without precious metal

As with the EM 2024 in Belgrade, the AFBÖ selection teams had nothing to do with the medal decisions at this home event.

“That could be the last generation with a real chance of LA 2028.”said the head coach of the Austrian U17 girls team Holly Kellner Before the Turin, which his team then ended with a 2-3 record in 6th place.

In order to qualify as one of six nations for participating in the 2028 Olympics, either a World Cup medal 2026 in Düsseldorf, or a final participation in the EM 2027 followed by the final participant of all continental association championships.
Currently that would mean that the men as World Cup runners-up would be directly qualified, the women, as fourth and European Championship fifth, would not be there. As I said, however, the tournaments 2026 and 2027 are decisive.

Austria’s U17 young team from Head Coach Andreas Testar won both games of the last day of the tournament and ended up fifth with a record of 4-2. The U15-Mixed Team from Head Coach Cameron Frickey came to 7th place with a 4-4.

Most recently there was precious metal at the European Championship in Italy for the domestic flagfootball offspring.

The Euro Flag starts in Paris in 18 days.
