Federal investigators examining high-level financial fraud have uncovered mobile phone messages indicating that former Banco Master controller Daniel Vorcaro holds ownership stakes in sports betting firm PixBet and a substantial share in the corporate structure of Brazilian football club Atlético Mineiro, according to documents revealed in investigative reports.
Police Intercepts Point to Hidden Sports Stakes
The disclosures emerged as part of ongoing Federal Police inquiries in Brazil targeting billion-dollar financial irregularities linked to Banco Master and its former leadership. Investigators analyzing encrypted chats extracted from mobile devices identified conversations involving associates of Daniel Vorcaro discussing hidden assets in the sports and gaming sectors.
According to investigative records detailed by VEJA, dialogue intercepted from the phone of Marilson Roseno da Silva—an ex-Federal Police officer identified as part of a group working on behalf of Vorcaro—explicitly named the banker as the ultimate owner behind major operations.
In an audio message sent on October 3, 2024, to a contact saved as “Pk Caiava,” Silva claimed that the PixBet platform belonged to “the boss down in São Paulo” who also controlled a quarter of the Belo Horizonte club. “Sabe de quem é essa PixBet aí? Do chefe lá de São Paulo. Que tem 25% do Galo,” Silva stated in the audio files cited by investigators.
Atlético Mineiro SAF Equity and Corporate Dilution
While investigative intercepts point to substantial behind-the-scenes influence, formal corporate records outline a shifting equity landscape within Atlético Mineiro’s Sociedade Anônima de Futebol (SAF).
Those capital contributions temporarily elevated his shareholding to roughly 20.2 percent of the SAF, alongside a seat on the club’s Board of Administration. However, corporate restructuring in May 2026 altered those proportions significantly when Atlético’s Deliberative Council approved a sweeping capital injection.
Because Vorcaro declined to participate in the subsequent funding round, his ownership percentage was heavily diluted down to a range between 4 and 5 percent. Concurrently, businessmen Rubens and Rafael Menin expanded their command, securing a controlling 83.5 percent stake in the football enterprise.
Administrative Fallout and Club Separation
The mounting legal pressure surrounding Banco Master prompted immediate structural distancing from the football institution. In November 2025, Atlético Mineiro formally announced the administrative removal of Vorcaro from his governance roles within the SAF.

“A decisão decorre de fatos de conhecimento público que geraram impedimentos para o exercício regular de suas funções,” the club stated via official announcement when confirming his exclusion from the Board of Administration.
Inquiries into Influence and VIP Ticketing
Beyond sports equity, the Federal Police files incorporate communications touching upon high-level political access. Investigators recovered text messages demonstrating that Vorcaro actively intervened to secure VIP match tickets for family members of Supreme Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
Records show that in mid-May 2024, ahead of an Atlético Mineiro fixture against Grêmio at the Arena MRV stadium, Vorcaro coordinated with a marketing employee of Banco Master to arrange premium seating for the minister’s children, Giuliana and Alexandre Barci de Moraes. Federal authorities highlighted the correspondence as part of a broader review into the personal and professional proximity between the banker and members of the judiciary.
Next Judicial Checkpoints
The judicial proceedings concerning Banco Master’s financial transactions, corporate structures, and associated political inquiries remain active before the Supreme Tribunal Federal under ongoing secrecy. Federal authorities have not yet announced a definitive timeline for the conclusion of the primary fraud probes or final indictments regarding the intercepted communications.
