After the disappointing preliminary round at the Casketball European Championship, NBA star Nikola Vucevic ends in the Montenegros national team.
“It is a shame that things come to an end,” said the Center from the Chicago Bulls, according to Eurohoops: “It would have been great to get into the next round and play in Riga, but that’s the way it is.”
VUCEVIC: “Time for the next generation”
The Montenegrin had previously lost 83:89 (42:48) against Great Britain in the last group game and thus missed the progress.
A success against the previously winless outsider, who had celebrated his first victory at a Eurobasket since 2013, would have been enough in Germany’s season B for the jump to the round of 16. VUCEVIC shone with a double double (31 points, eleven rebounds), and seven assists from the 34-year-old.
“I will miss playing for the national team,” said Vucevic that it was a “great honor” for him. Now it is “time for the next generation to leave their traces”. VUCEVIC took part in four European and two world championships.
