Badminton
Badmintonclub Hellas is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary on Saturday 6 September in a modest way with a barbecue and Old-Dutch Games for all members. That is now seventy, where it shot something over the two hundred in heyday with even a membership stop.
No reason for a minor, by the way, we hear from secretary Joke van Ark and Hanny van Zuylen, representative recreational users. They have been involved with the club respectively and more than forty years and know it from the inside.
BC Hellas became independent in 1978, after it was part of the Omniumvereniging SV Hellas’63 three years before.
“We arrest September 11, 1975 as the founding date, the day that the Brake was opened. Seventy people immediately registered. A few months later, the Badminton branch of this SV knew a membership stop. You can think back to it with some nostalgia, but that makes no sense. We are still a nuclear healthy association, of which three seniors.
Well, Badminton gets little space on television, there are no major international successes, people have enormous options and people focus on camping sport. Within an association with good training, rules and a lot of fun, that is very different. We do everything we can to hand in new people. That is partly successful, but we have been fluctuating around those seventy members for years. ”
What are the activities?
“We receive beginners with open arms, they receive separate training. We have no fewer than six badminton counselors. The youth on Friday from 6.30 pm to 8 pm. On that day also competition seniors from 8 pm to 11 pm. On Wednesday from 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm Recreators 18 Plus from 8.30 pm to 10 pm. Team in addition to two gentlemen. Youth formations.
Men 1 qualified for the NKC 2025 qualification. We organize four clinics in schools, an Easter, autumn, Christmas and final tournament. We participate in the King’s Games and hold a Sinterklaas tournament for the youth. As a board we are committed to connection. It is always fun afterwards. We also participate in tournaments at other associations. Close that with a dinner. We have had a vacancy chairman from our own ranks for some time. Those who are interested in sport can determine three times for free or badminton something before she is. In addition, there is a special ten -week training promotion for only 25 euros. ” Badminton is a sport for young and old at BC Hellas.
