Aramburu Murder Trial: Paris Assises Update

The investigating chamber ordered this Tuesday morning, the referral of the Federico Martin Aramburu affair to the Paris Assize Court. Loïk Le Priol will be tried for assassination, Romain Bouvier for attempted assassination. Lyson Rochemir, companion of Le Priol, who was driving the car, will be tried for complicity in attempted assassination.

Federico Martin Aramburu, former Argentinian rugby player, aged 42, who played for French clubs like Biarritz, Perpignan and Dax, and totaling twenty selections with the Argentina national team, had been killed by bullets on March 19, 2022 in Paris, below his hotel after an altercation on the terrace of a bar on the boulevard Saint-Germain.

The investigations have been completed for about a year, but since then, lawyers opposed a procedural battle for the qualification of the facts.

“Wait calmly the trial”

“Today, the Court of Appeal definitively charged Loïk Le Priol for assassination, Romain Bouvier for attempted assassination and Lyson Rochemir for complicity in attempted assassination. It is a decision that lives up to the reality of the alleged facts and obviously their severity. By retaining the murder with premeditation, the family of the civil party, that of Martin Aramburu and his friend Shaun Hegarty, will now be able to calmly await the trial before the Assize Court of Paris which will take place in the first semester 2026 “, underlines Me Yann Le Bras, the lawyer for the Aramburu family.
