Sport

Ulft – On Saturday, July 5, Achterhoek in Beweging, together with partners, is organizing the first multisport day in the Achterhoek at De IJsselweide sports park in Ulft. A unique opportunity for people with a physical disability or chronic condition to get acquainted with different sports for free. Between 9.30 am and 12.00 you can try out Framerunning, (wheelchair) handball, para table tennis, (wheelchair) badminton and (wheelchair) tennis. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or experience.

Participants follow three sports clinics of your choice this morning and get to know different sports and sports clubs from the region. You don’t have to have experience, it’s about discovering what you like and what is possible. Framerunning is offered on the athletics track. Tennis can be practiced on the tennis courts. In the sports hall, various associations are ready to offer para table tennis, (wheelchair) badminton and (wheelchair) handball.

Daarom is het zo belangrijk dat we Together – with sports providers, municipalities and involved residents – continue to build a sporting and inclusive Achterhoek. ”

Naomi Heidema of the Disabled Sports Netherlands adds: “With the multisport days we show that sports with a muscle disease is also possible – in a way that fits everyone’s possibilities. We are committed to – because everyone has the right to move and participate.”

Jan Jolink from Atletico’73 emphasizes: “Take the first step and explore the unique sports offer to discover what is possible. It often turns out to be possible than you think in advance and you will be surprised how much pleasure and energy it can give.”

More than just sport
The Achterhoek multisport day is not only about exercising, but also about building social contacts and experiencing pleasure in motion. Afterwards there is room for advice: participants who have become enthusiastic are helped in finding a sports club in their own environment. In this way a first introduction will hopefully become a lasting step towards a sportier life.
