KRC Genk is preparing to say goodbye to Christopher Bonsu Baah, who leaves for Saudi Arabia for millions. But other star players could leave this summer. For example, agreements were concluded with Zakaria El Ouahdi.
El Ouahdi made his debut as a professional footballer at the RWDM, where he became one of the figures in the Challenger Pro League. His good performances earned him a great transfer in the summer of 2023.
The winger joined KRC Genk. At first, he had to sit on the bench as a lining of Daniel Muñoz. But when the Colombian left during the winter transfer window, he was lucky. And he grabbed it with full hands. In the space of a few months, El Ouahdi has become a real phenomenon.
Agreements with the board of directors
These good performances have earned him a place in the Moroccan selection for the Olympic Games. There, he has highlighted with foreign teams. SL Benfica has proven to be concrete. But finally, El Ouahdi stayed in Genk, where he confirmed his Houleuse breakthrough.
It was therefore expected to be transferred again this summer. Especially since the ‘Head of Football’ Dimitri de Condé confirmed that agreements had been concluded and that the club would therefore collaborate with a good transfer. Racing was also already exploring the market to find possible successors.
Naples on the lookout
Despite this, things have been visibly calm around El Ouahdi in recent weeks, which has also suggested that an extension of his stay in Genk was not excluded. But the summer transfer window is still long and the foreign teams roam.
According to Dani Moreno, Observer of Sevilla FC, El Ouahdi appears on the list of wishes of SSC Naples. The Italian champions would plan to recruit a new right winger.
Juanlu Sanchez (Sevilla FC) would be a priority in this regard, the strong man of Genk being an alternative. However, the file is not very concrete for the moment.
