Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay Named Jonquière Voyageurs Général Manager

The Jonquière Voyageurs of the Ligue de baseball junior élite du Québec (LBJEQ) have appointed Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay as their new general manager, replacing Michaël Bélanger, whose contract was not renewed, Le Quotidien reported. The organization confirmed the change Wednesday evening on its Facebook page.

Tremblay, 33, succeeds Bélanger, who had been part of the Voyageurs’ organization since 2019, first serving as head coach before being named general manager in 2023. At that time, Bélanger hired Jérémie Chalifour to take over coaching duties. Bélanger was one of the architects of the team’s rise to second place in the 2025 campaign, though the results of the most recent season left a bitter taste with fans and the team’s presidency.

Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay Promoted from Scout Role

The Chicoutimi native has been active in regional baseball for about a decade and spent the past two seasons as a recruiter for the Voyageurs, preparing him for the promotion. A physical education teacher by profession, Tremblay also served as an assistant coach under Bélanger from 2019 to 2023.

Tremblay told Le Quotidien in a phone interview that he considers the position prestigious because the Voyageurs draw the largest crowds in the LBJEQ. He said he is proud to lead his youth team, noting that he used to take the city bus to watch Voyageurs games when he was young.

Twenty-Player Protection List Due Before March Draft

Several files await the new general manager, starting with the traditional protection list of 20 players that must be submitted before the March draft. The evaluation of the remaining 2026 roster will take place over the coming months to inform decisions, with player assessments on the current Jonquière list continuing throughout the winter.

Tremblay told Le Quotidien that his dream is to see the Voyageurs win a championship one day. He said he does not put too much pressure on himself because he trusts his decisions and player evaluations, and he is confident he will make the right calls to put the best team on the field.

Jérémie Chalifour Returns for Final Contract Year

On the field, Jérémie Chalifour will return to complete the final year of his contract as head coach. Assistant coaches Nicolas Doré and William Tremblay—the new general manager’s brother—will also return.

Aware that he operates in a circuit where transactions are difficult to complete, Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay said he intends to work to improve his team as much as possible. The season-ending gala, scheduled for Saturday evening in Lévis, represents a first event where general managers will be open to discussing personnel moves.
