Remembering Lloyd McDonald: A Life Well-Lived
Lloyd John Miles McDonald, a cherished resident of Petrolia, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health Sarnia’s Palliative Care unit. He was 87 years old.
Lloyd’s life was a testament to hard work, family values, and unwavering faith. Born on June 25, 1937, he dedicated his early years to employment at the National Steel Drum Plant in Petrolia. In 1974, he embarked on a new chapter, purchasing Brigden Feed Mill, a business he proudly owned and operated for an impressive 50 years.
Through the mill, Lloyd became a pillar of the community, actively supporting the Brigden Fair and the Moore Agricultural Society. More than just a business, the mill provided employment opportunities for numerous family members and friends, reflecting Lloyd’s commitment to those around him.
Family was paramount to Lloyd. He shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Helen McDonald (Dixon). Together, they raised a loving family, including their children: Steven & yvonne McDonald, Maxine & Mark Orr, and Brian & Synden McDonald. Lloyd’s legacy extends to his grandchildren: Jordan McDonald, Breanna & Sean Stewart, Shaylynn & Nathan MacIntyre, Josh & Brooklyn McDonald, Tori McDonald, kayla Orr, Jesse McDonald, Dan Orr, Jeremy McDonald, and Jenessa McDonald. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Myla Stewart, Teagan MacIntyre, Elora McDonald, and Aubree Stewart.
Lloyd’s faith was a guiding force in his life. As an active member and past board member of Petrolia’s First Baptist Church, he lived his beliefs daily. He found joy in travel and baseball, passions he pursued well into his 80s, demonstrating his zest for life.
Lloyd’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed.
Funeral Arrangements:
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Steadman Brothers Funeral chapels in Brigden on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm.A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church (418 Greenfield Street, Petrolia).Donations:
