Latvian Stars Shine in NHL Action
Latvian hockey players Zemgus Girgensons and Uvis Jānis Balinskis recently showcased their skills in NHL matchups.Girgensons contributed too the Buffalo Sabres’ decisive 4-0 victory over the Florida Panthers, logging 12 minutes and 33 seconds of ice time. He also saw action on the penalty kill for 2 minutes and 36 seconds, demonstrating his versatility.
Meanwhile, Balinskis faced a tougher challenge as his team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, fell to the Panthers 4-0. Balinskis,even though facing a tougher opponent,put up a solid performance. It shows the depth and future of Latvian hockey talent.

Sandis Ozolinsh: Definately.Today’s NHL is all about adaptability. It’s not enough to be a one-dimensional player.You need to be able to contribute in all aspects of the game – offense,defense,special teams. That versatility is what makes Girgensons such a valuable asset to the Sabres.
