Baja California state officials and national sports leaders cut the ribbon Saturday, August 29, 2026, on a state-of-the-art Archery Center of Excellence at the High Performance Center (CAR) in Tijuana. Backed by a 20 million peso joint investment from the Baja California state government, CONADE, World Archery México, and World Archery Americas, the venue is engineered to groom elite and youth archers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

High-Level Delegation Marks Saturday Inauguration
Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda presided over the opening ceremony alongside CONADE Director General Rommel Pacheco Marrufo. They were joined by World Archery México President Gabriel Ramos and INDE Director General Laura Marmolejo Toscano.
The facility arrives to elevate Mexico’s global competitiveness by offering specialized training environments for national team members while simultaneously cultivating emerging talent.
Inside the CAR Tijuana Training Complex
Spanning advanced athletic and medical infrastructure, the center features a modernized outdoor archery field complete with rehabilitated synthetic turf and new lighting systems. Beyond the range, the grounds house an armería, a strength conditioning gym, an athlete clinic, and administrative offices built specifically to host team concentrations, international training camps, and qualifying tournaments.
Pacheco Marrufo noted that the project delivers on institutional promises made to the local athletic community. By anchoring a unified high-performance hub backed by international coaches and a streamlined methodological framework, the center realizes a vision set into motion by a multi-level governmental agreement in May 2025, according to Roberto Beltrán Ramonetti, Director of High Level of Competition for INDEBC.
Strategic Proximity to Southern California
State leadership underscored Tijuana’s geographical nearness to California as an undeniable strategic advantage for the current Olympic cycle. Governor Ávila Olmeda positioned the facility as the foundational preparation home for competitors wearing national colors at the 2028 Games.
«Aquí se formarán, se perfeccionarán y se fortalecerán las y los atletas que llevan los colores de México a la máxima cita deportiva del planeta», Ávila Olmeda declared during the ceremony, eyeing a new generation aiming directly for the Olympic podium.
Exhibitions Launch New Era for Mexican Archery
The opening morning featured a traditional ribbon-cutting, an exhaustive guided tour of the newly built amenities, and a formal athletic exhibition put on by state-selected competitors.
By pooling state, national, and international federation resources, the facility firmly stamps Baja California as a premier incubator for elite Mexican sport as the road to Los Angeles accelerates.
