Last weekend, the 2024 French youth badminton championships took place in Lyon (Rhône). Three young people from Pays d’Auge badminton were selected: Philine Morisan, in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, Bastien Chevallier in singles, doubles and mixed and Eloi Le Secq in doubles.

A medal for Philine Morisan

Eloi lost in the first round. Bastien reached the quarter-finals in men’s doubles, losing in the first round in singles and mixed. As for Philine, she lost in the first round in singles and mixed, but won a nice bronze medal in women’s doubles.

Coach’s analysis

Antonin Ducellier, coach, analyzes the performances of his young players. “For Eloi, given the draw, the objective was to reach the quarter-finals. For Bastien, we knew it would be complicated in singles and mixed. In doubles with a more favorable draw, he could progress to the quarters. Concerning Philine, she had a complicated draw with a top seed. In mixed, the objective was still the quarter-finals. In women’s doubles, she had to go and get the medal. They had two serious matches in the eighth and in the quarter. In the semi-final, it was stronger on the other side, but they had a good match.”
