San Diego Padres second baseman Xander Bogaerts has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left shoulder, the team announced Wednesday.

Bogaerts was injured diving to catch a groundball in the first game of the doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves on Monday. Bogaerts was escorted off the field after being evaluated by the Padres medical staff.
The initial magnetic resonance imaging test was negative.
The fracture was discovered during additional tests on Wednesday.
Bogaerts has a .219 batting average in 47 games this season. He hit four home runs and drove in 14 runs.
