The World Championship leader dominated the sprint race on the Hard Rock Stadium circuit from start to finish and was on the podium accompanied by Charles Leclerc, second with Ferrari, and his teammate Sergio Pérez, who was third. A controversial maneuver by Hamilton at the start eliminated Stroll and Norris and severely affected the performance of Alonso, who finished last. Carlos Sainz has maintained his position on the grid, fifth.
