The University of Huelva presented this Wednesday, at the Sports Pavilion of the El Carmen campusthe Spanish University Archery Championship that will be held next Saturday, April 27, at the Asirio Club.
The vice-rector for Social and University Projection, Joaquina Castillo, was present at the event; the director of Physical and Sports Activity, Javier Antonio Tamayo, and the president of the Asirio Archery Club, José María Cuenca.
Javier Antonio Tamayo, director of the Physical and Sports Activity Service, explained that “this is a project that we have been working on for many years in collaboration with the Asirio Club and, finally, now, in a few days, we will be lucky enough to host more than thirteen Spanish universities in Huelva with about fifty very high-level participants.”
For her part, Joaquina Castillo, vice-rector of University Social Projection, has expressed her satisfaction “for having been able to celebrate and bring here the organization of a national university championship. The archery sport It is not new for us, since we have been collaborating with the aforementioned club for more than twenty years.”
In this sense, he has expressed that it is a sport “inclusive, integrative character, enormously representative of university valuesso for us it is like culminating this trajectory of several years that we have with this sport modality.”
Furthermore, he stressed, this is an example of the “effort that we have been making from the Physical and Sports Activity service and that is supported not only at the Huelva level, but at the national and Andalusian level. Proof of this is that the UHU will host In the month of June, the national meeting of all those responsible for Andalusian university sports is organized by the Andalusian Sports Institute.
For his part, José María Cuenca, president of the Asirio Archery Club, also showed his gratitude to the UHU for having the club to organize this championship. In line with the vice-rector, he commented “we have been collaborating with the university for many years through an agreement that has been a mutual benefit for both parties, since by virtue of it we can use the university facilities, which are magnificent for the archery, especially indoors, in the winter modalities”.
Regarding the championship, he detailed that on Saturday “archers and archers come of a high level, who have been champions or have been in the junior national teams at the national level and in international competitions.
