UNICACH earns two bronzes, UPGCH takes gold and silver at 2024 National Universiade

Luis Hernández Maza and Osman García Cordero, won the first medals for the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas (UNICACH), at the 2024 National Universiade, by winning two bronzes in the 90 and 60Kg divisions. in the Judo discipline that took place in the South Campus Gymnasium of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes.
Luis Adrián defeated Isaac Vázquez from the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ), Carlos Macías from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) and Alejandro Chávez from the University of Guadalajara (UDG) in the group stage, all for Ippon.
Already in the Quarterfinals, he beat Manuel Alonso from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABJ) also for Ippon and finally fell in the Semifinals against Ángel García from CETyS from Baja California, winning the bronze medal.
Osman Daniel defeated Bryan Aburto from the Instituto Superior de Colima (ISENCO) and Jesús Rodríguez from the Instituto Tecnológico de Ciudad Juárez (ITCJ) in the group stage, both for Ippon.
In the Quarterfinals, he defeated Favio Antonio from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) and in the Semifinals, the Chiapas native fell to Ángel Herbert from the Technological Institute of Sonora (ITSON) to win the bronze.
Luis Hernández, from the Geomatics Engineering major, competed with 15 other athletes in his category, while Osman García from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences also participated against 14 athletes. Both are trained by coach Roberto Moreno.
In other results, Ivette González stayed in the Quarterfinals, placing among the first eight of 15 competitors and Cristian Gómez stayed in the group stage.
UPGCH
Chiapas judokas Jessica Gómez Cruz and Milton Alejandro Morales Espinosa won the gold and silver medals in the 78 and +100Kg categories. representing the Pablo Guardado Chávez University (UPGCH), at the 2024 National Universiade that takes place at the facilities of the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes (UAA).
Jessica Gómez beat Jimena Álvarez from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí (UASLP), Samantha Carmona from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMEX) and Elisa Arreola from the University of Guadalajara (UDG) in the group stage, all by Ippon.
In the Quarterfinals, she defeated Hanna Macías from the UDG, in the Semifinals she defeated Yelena Ferrino from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) and in the Final she beat Fernanda Landa from the Benemérita Escuela Normal Veracruzana (BENV) to win the golden metal.
Student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical and Sports Education, Jessica was installed in Group B in a category that had 11 competitors.
For his part, Milton defeated Sebastián Osuna from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS) and Ian Borch from the Autonomous University of Oaxaca (UAO) in the group stage, both for Ippon in a competition that had 12 athletes.
In the Quarterfinals he defeated Jesús Pérez from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), in the Semifinals he left Erasmo Nieto from the UANL on the road and in the Final, he lost to Christopher Córdova from the Aeroespacial University of Querétaro (UNAQ) to win the silver medal.
Milton competed in Group B and is a student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical and Sports Education and his coach is Roberto Moreno.
