Tommy Stroot leaves VfL Wolfsburg in 2025

The women’s Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg will have to look for a new coach next year. Current head coach Tommy Stroot will not extend his contract with the German cup winners, which expires in 2025. VfL announced this on Thursday.

“We would have loved to have continued the successful collaboration with Tommy beyond 2025 and worked together to build a VfL team of the future in an increasingly demanding international and national competition,” said Wolfsburg women’s football director Ralf Kellermann. “I therefore extremely regret that Tommy has other plans and did not accept the offer of a contract extension beyond 2025.”

Stroot came to Wolfsburg in 2021 as Stephan Lerch’s successor and won the DFB Cup three times in a row with VfL and the German championship in 2022. Last year he and his team reached the final of the Champions League. He “made a decision for a change, but not a decision against VfL Wolfsburg,” said the coach.
